Winetasting while mountain biking in the vineyards

On several locations you can take guided mountainbike tours of the winelands. One operators, Bikes ’n Wines, have several different tours which vary in length, number of wine producers visited and number of wine tastings included. Put on some clothes suitable for the weather and get pedalling!

Boschendal

Situated in between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek lies this gem. Surrounded with natural beauty this vineyard not only produces great wine, but also some terrific experiences well worth a visit. Go horseback riding, eat at any of their several venues, book a picnic-basket and enjoy an outdoor romantic picnic or select any of their wine tastings. The more adventurous can rent mountain bikes and make use of the mountain bike and hiking trails near the Vineyard. When you’re done there are showers and facilities for changing into clean clothes.

The Spice Route
Something for everyone

This winery offers more than just wine tastings. Here you’ll find several mountainbike trails, a distillery producing Gin and Grappa, a craft beer brewery (CBC – Cape Brewery Company), homemade ice cream, chocolate tastings, several restaurants, a charcuterie, hand-blown glass, locally made diamond and tanzanite jewellery, a playground for the kids, and more.

There are several different tastings to chose from and if you can’t make a decision, just buy their ’spice route passport’ for 180R which grants you 5 different tastings (wine, charcuterie, craft beer, chocolate, gin). Make sure to have enough time on your hands to be able to enjoy it all in full. If you get hungry during your visit there are several restaurants on the property. Bring a blanket so you can sit or lay down on the grass under a tree and relax for a while before heading to the next tasting!
