French connection
Anna’s favourite

Along the main road in Franschhoek you find French Connection Bistro and as the name suggests there are plenty of influences from the French cuisine in their menu. This restaurant combines a very welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere with high quality food and a great selection of wine. Especially the wine has a very modest pricing, which makes it a personal favourite of Anna’s

Kloof Street House
Great atmosphere

In Cape Town city centre there are numerous great bars and restaurants to visit. This one, situated on Kloof Street is really worth a visit. It’s very popular and almost always full, so make sure to make a reservation. You can sit in their lovely garden or have a table inside this purposely over decorated space. The staff is super friendly and relaxed but always giving great service. The food and drinks are delicious, but what got us excited was the atmosphere which just get better and better as the place fills with more and more people.

ROCA
With the best view in Franschhoek

ROCA restaurant at DIEU DONNÉ Vineyards has without doubt one of the most spectacular views of the entire Cape winelands, overlooking Franschhoek and the surrounding mountains. This is the perfect place to watch the sun set over Simonsberg mountain, while enjoying a drink or dinner on their patio.

The Spice Route
Something for everyone

This winery offers more than just wine tastings. Here you’ll find several mountainbike trails, a distillery producing Gin and Grappa, a craft beer brewery (CBC – Cape Brewery Company), homemade ice cream, chocolate tastings, several restaurants, a charcuterie, hand-blown glass, locally made diamond and tanzanite jewellery, a playground for the kids, and more.

There are several different tastings to chose from and if you can’t make a decision, just buy their ’spice route passport’ for 180R which grants you 5 different tastings (wine, charcuterie, craft beer, chocolate, gin). Make sure to have enough time on your hands to be able to enjoy it all in full. If you get hungry during your visit there are several restaurants on the property. Bring a blanket so you can sit or lay down on the grass under a tree and relax for a while before heading to the next tasting!
